Chris Davis
Founder, Firefighter/Paramedic
Chris Davis is the founder of Helping Heroes Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting firefighters facing serious illness and injury through financial assistance and restorative outdoor experiences. The inspiration for the foundation came from Chris’s firsthand experience watching a fellow firefighter battle prostate cancer. As a firefighter himself, Chris witnessed the physical, emotional, and financial challenges that accompany a cancer diagnosis and the impact it can have on both the individual and their family.
Seeing these struggles up close sparked a desire to do more. Drawing on years of nonprofit leadership experience, Chris founded Helping Heroes Foundation in 2024 with a clear mission: to provide meaningful support to firefighters during some of the most difficult times of their lives. Guided by the foundation’s motto, “Restoring Strength. Renewing Hope.”, the organization offers financial assistance as well as guided hunting and fishing trips designed to provide healing, encouragement, and time for recovery.
Chris’s passion for serving others extends beyond the fire service. His nonprofit journey began in 2009 after his son, Sam, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Determined to help other families facing similar challenges, Chris founded Sam’s Search, which initially began as a community golf tournament raising funds for families managing the financial and emotional burdens of Type 1 diabetes.
Over the years, Sam’s Search grew into a successful nonprofit organization that has positively impacted countless families. Through a partnership with Cook Children’s Hospital in Prosper, Texas, Sam’s Search has expanded its reach and continues to provide assistance, resources, and hope to families navigating life with Type 1 diabetes.
Whether serving his community as a firefighter or leading nonprofit initiatives, Chris remains committed to helping others overcome adversity. Through both Sam’s Search and Helping Heroes Foundation, he has dedicated his life to supporting families, restoring hope, and making a lasting difference in the lives of those facing life's toughest challenges.
